Joint Members

Joint members include all those who are members of phoenix e.V. and who are willing to make a longer-term commitment to developing a culture of understanding.

To become a member one must have participated in a training session and all other members must approve.

Joint member meetings take place twice a year, consisting of a so-called
phoenix -weekend in spring and a Phoenix Day in autumn.

During the course of the year the black and white groups meet separately to discuss subjects concerning the respective members' socialisation and social experiences.

Our motto is "different - but equal". This ensures that differences are taken into account while we are pursuing our aim to further equality in daily life.

Various groups consisting of black and white members also provide the opportunity of working together.

Every now and then, we organize family days that offer our partners, children and other family members the possibility of getting to know our work and of joining us in our togetherness.

About every five years a "celebration day" is organized where we invite a speaker and a wider section of the general public. Through working and celebrating together we try to establish a level allowing us to share an equal, positive, and invigorated life in our society and going beyond all cultural and social differences or the experiences of everyday life.

Racism appears in numerous places and reveals itself in many nuances in our country. We therefore need men and women who are not only well-versed in the theory of intercultural communication but are also competent in practical, intercultural matters. Most of all, they should be imbued with the knowledge and the conviction that all human beings are absolutely equal and in this spirit they should be prepared to stand up for a culture of understanding.
